Cinderella Page 1/2
A significant event in San Francisco Ballet's history was the start of the joint Artistic Directorship with Lew Christensen and Michael Smuin, then-former San Francisco Ballet/American Ballet Theatre dancer. Immediately following Smuin becoming co-Artistic Director, Lew and Michael collaborated to create a new story ballet, Cinderella, which premiered on June 6, 1973 at the War Memorial Opera House, San Francisco. The work was set to a score by Sergei Prokofiev with scenery and costumes by Robert Fletcher. The images here come from the original premiere cast with Lynda Meyer dancing the title role of Cinderella, Vane Vest as the Prince, Paula Tracy as the Fairy Godmother, John McFall as the Jester, and Anton Ness and Daniel Simmons as the Step-Sisters.
