Filling Station - 1966 Page 1/2
During Lew Christensen's first year as artistic director of the San Francisco Ballet, the West Coast premiere for his ballet Filling Station took place on February 17, 1951 and the work remained a popular staple in the San Francisco Ballet repertory during Lew's tenure. The images on this page come from the 1966 performance with Robert Gladstein dancing the role of Mac, the station attendant. This performance also featured Alan Bergman and John McFall as Ray and Roy the Truck Drivers, Henry Kersh as the Motorist, and Henry Berg/Lee Fuller and Jocelyn Vollmar/Eloise Tjomsland as the Rich Boy and Rich Girl respectively.
