Apollo
Apollon musagète (later known as simply Apollo) was choreographed by George Balanchine set to a score by Igor Stravinsky. The piece originally premiered in 1928 and was performed in 1937 by American Ballet with Lew Christensen dancing the title role. Lew received multiple accolades for his work, which helped cement his position as Balanchine's leading male dancer and making Apollo a staple among Balanchine's repertory for American Ballet and subsequent companies.
